Of course, there are above-ground attractions, such as a surface trail system that traverses the largest protected natural area in Western Kentucky. The Nolin and the Green rivers offer recreation opportunities of their own, and Nolin Lake is a major attraction.

Kentucky Public Service Commission

The Kentucky Public Service Commission is a three member administrative body with quasi-legislative and quasi-judicial duties and powers regulating over 1,500 utilities. It is funded by an assessment paid by all utilities under the Commission's jurisdiction based on a utility's annual gross intrastate revenues. The Commission, created by the Acts of the 1934 General Assembly, the current version of which forms Chapter 278 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS), performs its regulatory functions through issuance of written orders, following adjudicative and rulemaking procedures outlined in Chapter 278 and administrative regulations promulgated by the Commission in Chapter 807 of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR).

Kentucky 811

Kentucky 811 was formed in 1987 under the name of Kentucky Underground Protection, Inc. by the owners and operators of underground facilities in the state of Kentucky as a means of reducing damage to those facilities and to promote public safety by reducing the number of incidents statewide. Kentucky 811 is a free statewide computer operated communication system, designed to save time, money, costly lawsuits, and dramatically reduce accidental dig-ins. Kentucky 811 is a non-profit corporation made up of operators of underground facilities within the State of Kentucky.
